Technology In Your Field(s)

Reflecting on both of these readings, they didn’t surprise me. I knew of this information but overall, I learned a lot more about the subject. It confuses me how the tech industry is shifting to prioritize money and profit over the well-being of employers and consumers. I am interested in finding out more about who controls the data in more serious pieces such as credit scores and crime maps. Technology in my field/career consists of counseling online, websites, video conferences, VR software, social networking text messaging and emails. In fields such as social work and public health, clients and their emotions matter. I hope technological advances and such will not prioritize money over the well being over the client and/or family.

In the future, I feel as if I'll be comfortable using basic mobile phones, basic level calculators, remote controls, digital cameras, social media platforms like Facebook, GPS navigation, online banking apps, streaming services, Netflix, and fitness apps. I am used to Apple and Google but am willing to learn other platforms such as Microsoft and Excel for work usage.

My definition of technology is the usage of technology platforms and materials in order to execute work. From my time at PSU, I have become very familiar with using Canvas. Like I said, I'd like to become more familiar with Microsoft Teams as it is used in a lot of corporate and official jobs.
