Thinking about my work on skills inventory, I am 50/50 ready for life after PSU. I plan on moving back home to save money on rent but I am unsure of what I will be doing as I do not currently have a job lined up. I am eager to find a profession I love and try new things. Yet, I am worried about finances and my social life at home. I have good communication skills and strategic thinking & teamwork I can bring to my new job from my undergraduate education. I abide by all eight of the career readiness competencies. I believe through my job I will be able to keep a good social circle and meet new people since I am considered an extrovert. I have previously worked in fast paced environments that will prepare me for any rush or high pressure job that I may come across
Trends in digital technology affect my future career goals for several reasons. First, digital technology requires a skill set and oftentimes individuals do not have proper training or education to fit the job requirement. Digital technology has also created a revolving door of jobs that are created and close down after a short period of time. I do not know much about the technologies needed in order to master my career. Looking online, it seems as though public health and marketing degrees require data analytics platforms and data analysis software. I do not feel at all prepared for the technology challenges that I may face in my career. I may look into more information and help on campus before I graduate in order to help me with the next steps in the real world.
The two readings connect to one another because they both speak on behalf of the modern workforce and its technological advances. They both reflect on NACE's emphasis on technology. It discusses effective communication and critical thinking skills. They also highlight the necessities needed for individuals to use their skills in order to thrive in their career/position.
